GEV applies electron-beam (E-Beam) technology, originally developed for medical-device applications, to hydrogel manufacturing.
During material processing, high-energy electrons interact with the polymer chains, promoting cross-linking between them and helping form a stable three-dimensional hydrogel network.
After the product has been filled, sealed and fully packaged, E-Beam can be applied again for terminal sterilization. Because irradiation takes place after packaging, the product does not need to be reopened, helping reduce the risk of subsequent microbial contamination.
Beyond hydrogel formation and sterilization, E-Beam dose control can also reduce the molecular size of hyaluronic acid. RE:LUZ adjusts it to approximately 1/100 of its original size and uses it at 10,000 ppm. The focus is not size alone, but precise control of both molecular size and process.
